The Distinguished Flying Cross is awarded to S/Sgt Henry G. Simon for extraordinary achievement, while service as a Gunner on a B-24 airplane during many bombardment missions over enemy occupied Continental Europe. Displaying great courage and skill, S/Sgt Simon, fighting from his gun position, warded off many attacks and materially aided in the successful completion of each mission. The courage, coolness and exceptional skill exhibited by S/Sgt Simon on all these occasions reflects the highest credit upon himself and the Armed Forces of the United States.
