On 20 March, Jim Puhala was inducted into the Hall of Valor at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall. Jim was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for “heroism evidenced by voluntary action above and beyond the call of duty” while flying a UH-1C gunship on a night patrol mission with the 227th Aviation Battalion in Vietnam on 8 Nov 1967. Jim is also honored on our Post 764 Wall of Valor.

A new addition to the POW-MIA table in our Post dining room is a pair of authentic jungle boots donated by Bill Snedeker. Capt Paul Urquhart of Peters Township is still listed as MIA “Body Not recovered.” An RPG downed the OH-6A Loach helicopter he was flying in Vietnam on Memorial Day 1971, during Paul’s 2nd tour of duty. Commander Scott Huenefeld remembered Paul Urquhart at this year’s Memorial Day ceremony 45 years later.
