News: Southwestern Pennsylvania World War II Memorial Dedication
12/07/2013 - by Bob Donnan
Today is Pearl Harbor Day and yesterday morning I attended the dedication ceremony for the 'Southwestern Pennsylvania World War II Memorial' on the North Shore in Pittsburgh, which is located close to
the Steelers’ Heinz Field and right next to Jerome Bettis Grille 36. The memorial was 13-years in the making and joins memorials in the same area for the Korean and Vietnam wars, as well as a notable
memorial to Mister Rogers.

As with other memorials and monuments in that area it was very well done and blends in nicely with the surrounding area.
Precipitation held off for the event but it was still a cold hour or more out in the elements. I recorded most of the ceremony from a rather poor camera location in the back of one of the tents,
but you get a great look at and sound from the band!
Someday I plan to revisit the WW2 memorial to capture a wide range of photos for posting on a webpage to give those incapacitated or living away from our area a better look at the new memorial.
