News: Quartermaster Comments
06/29/2014 - by Michael Klauer, Quartermaster
I would sincerely like to thank all of you
who helped this year with our annual
Poppy Drive on Memorial Day weekend.
We distributed at 4 places and again raised
funds to help our veterans and auxiliary
sisters. Thanks to all and hope you can
volunteer again next year.
We have now begun working on our next
project: the annual Almanac/VFW Golf
Classic to benefit our ambulance service
and other charitable organizations. We,
again, thank The Almanac for serving as
Title Sponsor. They have been very
generous in years past and again stepped
up to the plate. Please be generous with
your donations for tee and hole sponsors
and prizes for the outing which will be on 8
Sept at Ft. Cherry Golf Course.
We have just returned from the State
Convention and a new year has begun.
Thanks again for reelecting me as your
QM—I again will do my best. There were
2 proposed resolutions at the convention
that would or could have impacted Post
764. The first involved redistricting State
VFW Districts. Here Dist. 24 (our district)
and 5 others would have been eliminated
and combined. Fortunately this was
defeated. Another proposal would have
granted State VFW permission for an
individual Post (if they desired) to form a
“Men's Auxiliary.” This too was defeated.
The delegates also heard in person from
Gov. Corbett and Senators Casey and
Toomey. Next years events will be held in
Gettysburg, PA—hope to see a few more
of Post 764 people there.
Please welcome William Mueller, transfer
from Post 402 in Coraopolis; Edward
Dehmer, transfer from Post 8885; and
Michael Bullister, AF Expeditionary Med,
GWOT, Iraqi Campaign Medal.
Michael Klauer, Quartermaster
