Post 764 World War II Room

.

HISTORY

A committee, chaired by Jim Tilton, was formed by Commander Fred Scherrer and the board in February 2004. The committee first decided to divide the room into the Pacific Theater (South wall) and the Atlantic Theater (North wall). A schedule of major events, starting with the bombing of Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, was developed. Pictures were obtained from the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall in Oakland and from other sources. All pictures were framed and hung by the committee.

A TV and VCR were installed on the West side of the room. A display case was mounted along the hallway into the Canteen. Two service tables were added to the East side of the room. Copies of the minutes from all committee meetings are on file in the VFW Office and available for additional information.
