Objects and Goals

of

The Ladies Auxiliary

The objects of this organization are to assist the Veterans of Foreign Wars of Post 764 whenever they deem appropriate, to promote patriotism to all people to insure that patriotism be instilled in our future generations and to maintain allegiance to the United States of America with faithfulness to its constitution and laws.

One of the goals of this Auxiliary is to expand its membership in order to become a stronger and more supportive ally to our Veterans - Past, Present and Future.

Greetings to my Sisters, Comrades and Friends:

I hope your Christmas was merry and your New Year will be filled with good health and happiness.

We would like to share with you our eventful activities for the past three months. On October 30th, auxiliary members visited veterans at the VA Hospital in Oakland. As usual, they assisted the veterans playing bingo games, visited veterans on four floors and provided them with delicious refreshments. It a was successful evening and well worth the trip, thanks to Sandy Coglio, Diane Keremes, Ellen Mavrich, Debbie Hahn, Marge Senchak, Nancy Shonsky, Donna Auyer, Gay Massey and Linda Phillips.

On November 6th, an all day affair, an annual Pink Panther Cancer Drive was held at the Crown Plaza Hotel under the auspices of volunteer cancer survivors. Members attending from our Auxiliary were Donna Auyer, Marge Klauer, Marge Senchak, Diane Keremes, Sandy Coglio, and myself. Upon admission, a small donation gave us five tickets to disperse in any of the Chinese auction gift displays on two tables for a chance to win a prize. One table was for cancer survivors only for a chance to win one of two grand prizes. I was pleased and surprised to win a gift from the Chinese auction table. Also, Congratulations are in order for Marge Klauer who won one of the grand prizes for being a cancer survivor four times. God bless you Marge. We also had access to browse two rooms set up by local merchants with goods of all kinds to sell and their profits from purchases were to be donated to the Cancer Fund.

On December 6th, Sandy Coglio, Diane Keremes, Ellen Mavrich, Debbie Hahn, Marge Senchak, Sarah Burgan, Nancy Shonsky, Karen Martin, Colleen Holms, Linda and Howard Phillips, Gay Massey, Phyllis McLaughlin and myself went to Friendship Village to decorate their Christmas trees. One week later the same crew went again to Friendship Village to sing Christmas carols. Additions to our original crew for caroling were three young girls, Catherine and Angela Mavrich (daughters of Ellen Mavrich) and Madeline Mortimer, who played their violins as a trio. Also, my grandson, Brandon Martin and my husband, Rich Grindel came. It was a fun night for everyone.

Our next regular meeting will be January 4, 2012. A change was made of our customary regular meeting date in order to schedule the visitation of the distinguished Congressman, Tim Murphy, who will be our guest speaker at Post 764 on January 11, 2012 at 7:00 PM. We urge all members and their guests to attend.

Faithfully yours,

Marilyn Grindel
President
Ladies Auxiliary Post 764

Our very talented Ladies Auxiliary sister, Jeanne Delbusso, and some of her fellow artists made and distributed many walker bags to veterans at the VA Hospital.  We are very proud to have her as a member of our organization.
